abstract = "This work employs the implementation of mathematical morphology
methods in SUN-SPARC Workstations, using the MMach Tools which are
found under the Kroros environment. This is done longing to obtain
measurements of the area and the number of hifals from the fungi
culture of Pennicillium Crysogenum microscopy images, in the
initial phase named mycelia. This analyzed features are directly
related with the productivity of this culture. Some of the
mathematical morphology methods used are: filtrated skeleton by
thinning, threshold (MMach), conditional erosion, and labeling
(MMach). As the results were satisfactories, it is conceivable to
use this methods to obtain estimated measurements of mycelia
images area and hifal width.",
